Last night, the game’s lawmakers — the International FA Board — finally gave the go-ahead to Hawk-Eye and GoalRef to help refs decide whether a goal has been scored.
Both systems will make their competitive debut at FIFA’s Club World Cup in Japan in December.
And the Premier League want it installed as soon as possible after that.
A spokesman said: “The Premier League have been a long-term advocate of goal-line technology.
“We welcome the decision and will talk with both companies soon.”
FA chairman David Bernstein said: “I’m delighted. It’s been a long time coming but it’s a progressive move for world football.”
At Euro 2012, England had a dodgy decision go their way against Ukraine after the extra assistant ref failed to see that John Terry had cleared the ball after it crossed the line.
And Frank Lampard had a goal ruled out against Germany in World Cup 2010 despite it bouncing a yard over the goal-line.
